Enhancing RFID system configuration through semantic modelling

Abstract Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) system technology is a key element for the realization of Industry 4.0 vision, as it vital tasks such entity tracking, identification and asset management. However, plethora RFID systems’ elements in combination with wide range factors that need to be taken under consideration along interrelations amongst them, make problem design right system, based on users’ needs particularly complex. The research outlined this paper seeks optimize process by developing an integrating schema will encapsulate information form both human machine processible. Human readability allow shared understanding domain; readability, automated reasoning engines perform logical deduction techniques returning implicit information. For purpose, novel System Configuration Ontology (RFID SCO) developed. Hence, non-RFID experts are enabled identify most suitable according their retrieve all relevant required efficient corresponding system. SCO validated tested successfully against real-world scenarios provided domain experts.
